Maui, Hawaii

A #tbt travel post from when we went to Maui, Hawaii last summer! Whenever I get invited to a destination wedding (even if as a plus one :D ) I am more inclined to go because we can make a trip out of it!

Maui is a dream - one of my favorite places ever!

Warning: Many turtle photos ahead.

Los Angeles (LAX) to Kahului (OGG) in about 6 hours.

Woke up at 5 am for this view! Maui has some amazing scuba diving spots, and if you plan to dive, do it at the beginning of the trip so you have enough time to decompress safely before flying home.

Some shots of new friends at our dive spot at Molokini Crater. We also saw a barracuda!

Wasn't a fan of shaved ice until now - Ululani's shaved ice is so creamy and yummy!

The wedding venue was at a house type property by the shore - so gorgeous! This was one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever been to (I know I've said this before about the wedding in Bali, haha, both weddings were the most beautiful in their own way)!

View from the venue.

Wild chicken?

I'm wearing the Jasper dress from Free People (sold out :(), but here are some similar ones from Topshop, Forever 21, Nasty Gal, and Asos.

The next day we went snorkeliing right outside our condo, Honua Kai, at Ka'anapali Beach, and saw the most amazing sea life! By that I mean we saw 3 huge turtles and you know, some fish.

Hello! Spotted a turtle up close! Omg!! He was so big! Last time I swam with turtles this big was in Sipadan - another dream location for seeing marine life.

Then I stalked the turtle for about 30 minutes and waited for him to surface for air multiple times. Still awed!

All underwater photos are taken by my old Canon Powershot S90 in a waterproof case, or the Go Pro type cameras with waterproof casing offered for rental by the dive shops.

When we went back to shore to rest, there was another turtle just hanging out and eating stuff off the rocks! This one was much larger than those we just saw further out. This quiet beach is just the place for turtle viewing!

When swimming in the ocean, please remember to use reef safe sunscreen to protect the marine life. You can find it easily on Amazon.

Rainbows and double rainbows were common in Maui! We even saw a moonbow.

Visiting Paia, the cutest little town that is also the starting point for our Road to Hana drive. Rent a car to do this.

First Malaysia pin! Road to Hana journey begins!

Turns out the weather did not cooperatiw and we were not prepared for rain like this. Heavy rain and thunderstorms throughout our drive....could barely see the road or the scenic part...

But, we managed to run out out of the car, snap a picture, and run back into the car. Not the best Road to Hana experience, but I can only imagine how beautiful the scenery must be on a clear blue day.

We still managed to drive the entire road to in the torrential rain to arrive at.....Hana! It's a very small beach town with one cafe that served bad food. This drive was clearly not about the destination :)

Just sitting on the beach and waiting for the sunset was one of my favorite parts of the trip too
